Real Fun: Fair Queen

Sometimes something can be so haunting that it appropriately captures an idea, a feeling, an artistic flair, an intimate sensation or even the life of a truly amazing human. That’s the experience I had when I watched this video for the first time.

Freddie Mercury was just that kind of amazing human. When I think about his short yet passionate and unapologetic life I can’t help but feel some sense of irreverent joy bubble up inside me. I feel it every time I hear a Queen song… but none more than when I hear Bohemian Rhapsody.

The following video shows a fairground organ that is well over 100 years old playing that tune. The symbolism is almost creepy. It has an air of timelessness and playfulness that fully and completely capture the soul of this song while at the same time managing to convey the gravitas of the original song’s melancholy and subtle sadness.

So…. with all the love in my heart I dedicate this post to a late great and a timeless classic. Enjoy.
